Our usual Christmas eve cheese fondue, but without Selina, but with Winney.
Christmas we had both Selina and Graham over, lateish meal at 4.00. Our last turkey from the farmer because he is selling up.

Several months ago I had an email from a friend from back in my university days, (Ravi Kanbur). I had not seen him since leaving university. He had found me on the web. This weekend he threw a party to celebrate his 50th birthday, and 25th anniversary of his marriage to Maggie.
The event took place at the Beet club in Ely, where we were entertained to a 60’s disco, and a fantastic feast of food. There was a great mix of people from India, Cambridge, Oxford, Scotland and Wales. Those who attended from my undergraduate days were, Simon Potter, Mike Bell, Norman Housley and Richard.Gleed.
Afterwards we adjourned to the Lamb hotel where we were entertained by rugby songs. Sunday we visited Ravi and Maggie in their home in Ely, and then went onto Newmarket to meet my father for a Christmas present exchange.
The cold that had been brewing eventually came to fruition, and I took two days off work
Power cuts at home all day. Visited the P&A for a few drinks with the regulars. Just before food was going to be served, the electricity men came in and announced the power was going off for 30 minutes.
In the end it was off for 60 minutes as they reconnected our transformer.
Christmas is over. The twenty-pound turkey has all but been consumed. Not a white Christmas, but a mixture of rain and sun.
Boxing day was a windy wintry shower day. I went out shooting Boxing day was a windy wintry shower day. I went out shooting and did OK. After the main shoot we shot a flurry, pairing up at random with another shooter. I shot with Gavin and we did quite well. Afterwards we repaired to the P&A for a few pints of beer.and did OK. On Saturday went to Aylesbury to buy some bolts for the wind vane, and then had lunch at the Peasant at Brill. Had a nice meal, and then in walked Daba with his girl friend. We had heard rumours he was back in the country.
Sunday, at last I placed the wind vane on the garage. It is of a paraglider.
Another week up in Edinburgh, uneventful trip back, except for the appalling conditions on the motor way with the rain. Speed restrictions of 20 mph.
Saturday was a pretty dismal day. So watched LOTR Two Towers in anticipation of going to the cinema on Wednesday to see Return of the Kings.
Sunday did brighten for a while, then rained while we were having lunch. Lunch was a Sunday meal in the P&A with John and Carol. Steve Delman and his daughter were visiting Europe, so they had been invited by John. Actually Elizabeth was spending a term at the University of London. Peter WIllson was also in attendance. Some reminisce of the good old days was inevitable.
Great news! The Grendon Underwood telephone exchange has made its Broadband trigger level. So hopefully in the next few months we will get fast Internet access.
I was getting rather despondant in the last month, so very few new people were registering, and we were so near the target. Then in this last week seven new names registered, bringing is one over the target.
Had Ann and Chris over for a meal and a hot tub. Good evening.
At last it has started to rain properly. I think it has rained all this weekend.
Saturday it was raining here, and it was raining in Sydney as we beat the Aussies to win the Rugby World Cup. Hardly any traffic on the road outside while the match was in progress.
Raining as we drove to Towcester for a wedding reception in the evening. Good event with many friends at the party.
Raining all day Sunday while Rosemary went out and viewed some field ponds as part of local council training for pond surveys. She came back cold and wet.
Another week has gone by. Not a lot to report, the weather has been mainly dry with some quite sunny days. Friday was such a day with temperatures of 20 Celsius, the weekend was a little cooler and Sunday eventually ending in rain.
Spent rather a long time on Friday and Saturday evening in the Plough and Anchor saying goodbye to a friend who was off to New Zealand for three months. Odd we were still there hours after she had left for home. On Saturday evening at around midnight, I say the start of the shadow appearing on the moon for the full eclipse, so rushed indoors to tell Rosemary, and get the camera. By the time I was out again, clouds were covering the sky, so I never saw the eclipse.
